Belonging, the Centre for Wholehearted Living was borne from our deep friendship and strengthened through a deep love of the brain, musicals and the beach alongside a desire to deepen our understanding of how our experiences, emotions and the people around us shape who we are and how we grow.

How we work with clients

Maria Marshall

I am a registered clinical psychologist who is passionate about working with clients in a safe, respectful and supportive environment.

I work with clients who are experiencing various conditions, including childhood trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Autism (ASD), and behavioral issues. I also help clients understand how their childhood experiences can have an ongoing influence into their adulthood.

My main aim when treating a client -- from a psychological or naturopathic perspective -- is to work in a connected and collaborative manner while providing a space for them to feel understood and valued.
I use a variety of therapeutic approaches including Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Somatic Movement.

I have also established a regular meet-up in Ballarat to provide autistic people with a safe and inclusive environment to chat and socialise.

Yvette Knights

I hold a degree in Early Childhood Education and a Post Graduate qualification in Neuro Developmental Therapy (INPP). I have also completed training in trauma informed care and practice.

I work with families who have children with a range of delays in their foundational learning that affect their neurological readiness for learning, behaviour and attention, motor skills, balance and core strength. Some of the families I work with have adopted children who have all experienced trauma.

My work matures the underdeveloped areas in the brain, using neuro movements. These movements target specific areas in the brain that are underdeveloped and you see the child mature, develop socially, emotionally, with improvements in their learning and sensory challenges.

Joel Karslake

I'm a dedicated professional with a background in support work and chiropractic care. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, many of whom have disabilities. Their unique experiences have been instrumental in shaping my approach and refining
my methods to achieve positive physical and psychological outcomes for them.

With over four years of experience in disability support work and a solid foundation in chiropractic medicine, I am now working towards becoming a behavioural specialist. I want to use my medical
expertise and knowledge to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals I work with.

My chiropractic journey began at Intrinsic Healthcare, where I had the privilege of giving back to my local community. Now, I'm excited to work with Belonging, the Centre for Wholehearted Living and give back to Ballarat in a different way.
